I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce my two fur babies: Abby and London.
Abby
Abby is a puggle – a pug and beagle mix. She is a “designer dog” which is a cross between two purebred dogs and often in the case of puggles, they do not have the breathing problems that are found in pugs because of their short snouts.
According to Dogtime, Puggles are described as:
A sweet, intelligent dog who can fit easily into family life. They can be playful and cuddly and enjoy spending time with the people in their lives. Puggles usually get along well with everyone, including kids and other pets. Potential behavior problems include howling, barking, digging, or wandering.
What they failed to mention is that my puggle is extremely food driven, deathly afraid of strangers, leaves poop presents in the house, likes to lick pillows, and finds enjoyment in her own eating poo!! However, I wouldn’t trade her for the world as she is cute, sweet, funny and most importantly she loves me unconditionally.
Abby came into my life during the summer of 2008 while I was in law school. I was living alone and thought that a puppy would be a good addition to my stressful life. After researching different breeds and talking to my family, I recruited a friend to visit a puggle breeder in a neighbouring town. Secretly, I wanted someone to come with me to make sure I wasn’t going to a puppy mill (Oprah had recently done a story on this topic that scared the crap out of me). Long story short, it wasn’t a puppy mill, however, he did breed swans and HUGE rabbits as well. I instantly fell in love with the only female in the litter and promptly named her Abby.
London
London is a Boxer. She is playful, friendly, energetic, good-natured, and sweet.
London became a part of the Husband’s life a few days after he moved into his first place and they became best buds. Like Abby, London has her quirks such as an addiction to licking, peeing every time someone comes over to our house, and beating up Abby!
When the husband and I first started dating we both had puppies. I remember the reasoning for our first “date” was so we could introduce our pups. Needless to say having 2 six month old dogs running around in a small condo did not lead to a romantic night in. I think Abby may have even left Erik a special present under his desk! However, since that day Abby and London became best friends and sisters. I could not imagine my life without them.
Oh and as I just wrote this Abby pooped in the house! How sweet of her :s
I would love to hear if any of your dog’s have crazy quirks?

I always wanted a Puggle as well but never knew the “Potential” behavior problems of howling, barking, digging, or wandering… I found out quickly that these potential problems were going to be true! ha-ha I guess I should have researched a little bit beforehand because I ended up with my beautiful Puggle Bailey who loves to howl, bark, dig, and most of all WANDER!!! When I went to pick her up to bring her home, the breeder said that everyone called her Houdini because she kept getting out of her locked crate…. For some reason at that time, it didn’t click in what I was getting myself into! It didn’t take me long to finally get the joke…. my little Bailey could get out of her crate and jump over gates way too tall for her little frame. Fast forward to the present day and she is still escaping our fenced-in backyard! Needless to say wandering is not a potential behavior for my Puggle! ha-ha
